Chelmsford Choice is a Town electricity aggregation program that gives Chelmsford residents and businesses a Town alternative to other electricity supply offers in the marketplace, without high pressure or fees. For participants, the program changes the price that is used to calculate the Supply Services charge on their National Grid electric bills.

The program offers consumer protections and the potential for savings compared with National Grid’s Basic Service prices, while also helping to support Chelmsford’s sustainability efforts.  However, because National Grid’s prices change and their future prices are not known, savings compared with National Grid’s prices cannot be guaranteed.

Three consumer-friendly electricity choices

As a new participant in Chelmsford Choice, you will be automatically enrolled in the Chelmsford Choice Basic option for 14.843 ¢/kWh. If you want more clean electricity from renewable sources like the sun and the wind, you can choose from two additional options, Chelmsford Choice Greener and Chelmsford Choice Greenest.

Participate

 New electricity accounts in Chelmsford will be eligible for automatic enrollment in Chelmsford Choice. Automatic enrollment occurs on a periodic basis, and you will receive a notification in the mail from the Town first. You may alternatively choose to request enrollment online or with a phone call. How it works

 A municipal electricity aggregation is a group electricity purchasing program. Participating in Chelmsford Choice will change your electricity supplier and the price National Grid uses to calculate the Supply Services portion of your electric bill, but participating will not replace National Grid as your electric utility. Chelmsford Choice is integrated into your existing National Grid electric bill. Check your bill. If the electricity supplier shown is Dynegy – Chelmsford Choice, you are enrolled.

Savings cannot be guaranteed

Please note that, while Chelmsford Choice offers the potential for savings when compared with National Grid’s Basic Service price, there is no guarantee of savings. This is because National Grid’s prices change every 6 months for residential and small business customers and every 3 months for large business customers and future National Grid prices are unknown.
